Bowls Club
Lawn bowls has been played at the Causeway Tennis Club since 2008. In 2010 the bowling club was officially integrated into the tennis club, with the club taking the new name 'The Causeway Tennis and Bowls Club'. In the Spring of 2011, four dedicated bowling lanes were built adjacent to the tennis courts. Here people of all ages enjoy this great game. If you are interested in joining, details can be found here.
Non-members can organise a game, for €4 per player per hour-long session. Group rates are also available. Drop into the club or call 058 42813 to make a booking.
Bowls Competition
The bowls club are holding the inaugural singles competition, kindly sponsored by Kelly's pharmacy, Abbeyside, with the first round on the week commencing 3rd October. The draw takes place on Thursday 29th September.
Bowls Complex Opening Ceremony
On Friday evening last, 26th August, in glorious sunshine, Mr Ray O’Dwyer, County Manager, officially opened the new Bowling complex which includes facilities for both lawn bowls and french boules (also known as pétanque). Also addressing the large attendance was Cllr Teresa Wright, Town Mayor, who congratulated all concerned for providing Dungarvan with such a wonderful amenity. Dr Tom Higgins, President of the Causeway Tennis and Bowls Club, welcomed the general public to come and have a roll before deciding whether to become a member.
Official Opening of Bowls Complex
Club members and interested parties are invited to the club for the official opening of the bowls complex this Friday the 26th August. Ray O’ Dwyer, the Waterford County Manager, will open the complex and proceedings will run from 7:30 pm.
Official Opening of Lawn Bowls
The official opening of the lawn bowls club will take place on Friday 26th August at 8 pm.
Bowls Night for Members
On Friday July 22nd, from 7 pm, all members are invited to the club for an introduction to Lawn Bowls. There will be food and refreshments on offer.
Bowls Open Days
This week, on Wednesday and Thursday the 8th and 9th of June, the lawn bowling lanes will be open to the public from 12pm – 8pm. All are welcome to try out this captivating game for themselves. For prospective members, the bowling club is open for membership, and at €100 per year, offers fantastic value. For further information, contact Donal on 087 9954016.
Bowls Complex Completed
On Friday 13th the lawn bowls complex was completed. The local Chamber of Commerce enjoyed a night of both tennis and bowls. It was a great success...
Bowls Complex Update
Work continues on the Bowling Green with a schedule as follows:
1. Week commencing 11/04/2011: laying of tarmacadam within green and the construction of banks at the two ends
2. Week commencing 18/04/2011: fencing of area relating to green (2 metres high)
3. Week commencing 25/04/2011: laying of synthetic surface within bowling area and tarmacadam outside the green.
