Thanks to all who came along to support the team on March 23rd when they 3-1 to make it into the finals. There was a carnival atmosphere in the clubhouse with tea and coffee flowing! More of the same, I'm sure, in Sundays Well. Best of luck!!
The Causeway Tennis and Bowls Club had a massive turnout from the juniors on March 17th to walk in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. 108 juniors in total, some as young as 5! All very efficiently organized by our club coach - Shelly Mernin.
A fortnight before the parade, approximately 40 juniors were expected to march, and as the week went on, the numbers rose and rose. As anticipated attendance neared 100, alarm bells sounded and much reinforcements were needed. Shelly made many frantic phone calls and called in many favours to get the necessary adult participation.
The Annual General Meeting of the Causeway Tennis and Bowls Club was held at 8pm in the clubhouse on Tuesday 25th February. It was a well attended meeting where a lot of ground was covered in a short period of time. A new committee was elected under the presidentship of Ger Kelly, consisting of Vice-President - Clodagh Carthy, Treasurer - Liam Fitzgearald, Secretary - Denis O’Donovan, Committee - Martina Beresford, Orla Hayes, Johnny O’Neill.
The courts have been cleaned and the difference is undeniable. One can feel the bristles of the carpet under foot! And pooling - what pooling? - Even after a deluge of rain, the courts drain within minutes.
