The Annual General Meeting of the Causeway Tennis and Bowls Club was held at 8pm in the clubhouse on Tuesday 24th February. It was a well attended meeting where a lot of ground was covered in a short period of time. A new committee was elected under the presidentship of Clodagh Carthy, Treasurer - Liam Fitzgerald, Secretary - Julianne Veale, Committee - Denis O’Donovan, Emma Rhys Thomas and Dave Mahony.

Tributes were paid to the many people who have worked hard to ensure the smooth running of the club over the last 12 months - Richie Duggan, Solas workers, past presidents.

Club members; together with family and friends, met on Sunday the 15th of February to remember a fellow colleague and groundsman; Richie Duggan, who is no longer with us.
The occasion was marked by the unveiling of a new garden bench by his widow Donna together with his young son Jack & daughter Ava. Words of appreciation were spoken by the club chairman Mr James Mullen of the work which had been carried out by Richie in the time he was with the club. The bench will be placed in the club grounds enabling it to be used by all members.

After a long season, with many a game played; the club has at last made it's way to the of the Doubles inter house match final. As one would expect from such a drawn out preliminary period to get to the final in the year it was announced would be an achievement, so it was left to this month that the players finally met and did battle.

The start of a new year brings opportunities for the members of the Causeway bowls club to show what they are made of and commit themselves to greater glory; with the commencement of The Southern League 2015 matches.
Last year was our first introduction to the league and we found our standard of play was wanting. This year we hope to take a more informed approach to the games and achieve a far better conclusion for our efforts.

After a sumptuous meal the chairman spoke of the warm & friendly atmosphere that is generated in the club and made special mention of one individual: voted by the committee, who had given their time freely for the benefit of the club. The award of a shield was presented to Mrs. Cynthia Mullen.

After all the speeches had finished it was time for the raffle – the proceeds of which amounted to 300 Euro, will be handed over to the Irish Cancer Society in memory of Mr Joseph Quinn who sadly lost his battle recently with this terrible disease -his warm nature and smiling face will be missed by his family and fellow members R.I.P.
